Summary:
The Principal SW Engineering Sr is responsible for shaping and strengthening the electronics development for CARIAD and VW Group. They will define, develop and deliver production software in embedded environment for High performance computing platform for VW Group in order to create in-house development expertise for connected infotainment and ADAS/AD system. The Principal SW Engineering Sr will be a member of CARIAD's technical team and interfaces with multiple stakeholders of VW Group's technical team members. This position investigates and develops new computer SW architectures for HPC system connected systems and supports Proof of Concept (POC) projects with Semiconductor companies for strategic partner section for SoC development. The Principal SW Engineering Sr will help build and mentor a highly competent technical team (Best of the Best) for SoC, HCP and Software development for strategic growth of CARIAD mission of in-house competence for semiconductor and HCP development to compete with Automotive technology companies. Role
Responsibilities:
SoC and HCP Software Development - (80%) Contribute to software specification and design of compute boards and custom SoCs Work with internal customers to understand and specify software requirements and deliverables, including safety and security Assist hardware team in component selection, schematic review, bring-up, testing and debugging Develop/integrate bootloaders, device drivers, kernels, hypervisors, upgrade processes, etc to support application requirements Leads SW development for Base-software (BSP), Driver software, MCAL, Bring-up/Debugging software and diagnostic software. Oversees board bring-up and supports hardware design verification. Work with component vendors and open-source communities as needed to support selected hardware and software components Develop/integrate processes and tools for software development and automated regression testing Leads performance validation and evaluation of the SW stack. Contributes to the timely delivery of fully validated, high-quality software features. Leads the design, prototyping, engineering, validation, and launching the cutting-edge software stacks for HCPs with multiple SoCs configuration architecture. Contributes to the SW development roadmap, strategic planning, production rollout planning. Supports in tailoring and deploy software tools, processes and metrics. Promotes to use existing available hardware in innovative ways to solve SW prototyping. Leads a rapid prototype system in quickly manner to show a proof of the concept. Creates a culture to deploy software incrementally to meet very fast paced development. Operational Management - (20%) Work with contract manufacturer closely to build up test software for hardware test setup for ECU bring-up, verification/validation and end of line production. Identify and mitigate project technology risks and execution risks Locates, acquires, and retains extraordinary talent for the ramp-up phase of the Engineering Team and for future growth. Monitor compliance with relevant regulations, statutes, Board Directives, process standards (including in respect of Golden Rules and Product Compliance), procedural/operating instructions and occupational safety regulations using appropriate management controls (dual-control principle). Spearheads new in-house development projects for various technical domains
