Animal care Attendant
We are seeking an entry level or experienced Kennel Assistant to join our team at VCA Vets & Pets Animal Hospital in Santa Clara, California.
Part-time or full-time positions are available.
The successful candidate will share our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our loyal clientele and the highest quality care to their boarded and hospitalized pets.
Shifts include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Summary:
Provide daily care for boarding and hospitalized patients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning cages Feeding, medicating, and exercising dogs and cats Inventory unpacking and stocking Doing hospital laundry Cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces and areas Removing debris and dog waste throughout hospital premises Maintaining garden areas Assisting hospital staff when needed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Be able to perform the following:
Work independently and follow written and verbal instructions Accurately document notes onto medical records Learn and utilize in-house software for electronic medical records Handle and restrain animals appropriately, ensuring patients and associates are safe Communicate with owners regarding their pets and boarding concerns Lift 40 pounds independently Walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during an 8-hour shift.
Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written directions.
Maintain good attendance record Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medicationEducation and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalentClient Relations:
Agree to incorporate the principles of the VCA Mission Statement, Three Steps of Service and VCA Standards of Client Service in their daily job performance.
Demonstrate excellent relations and communication skills with clients and their pets within the hospital.
