The Applied Law Department environment is fast paced, challenging, collegial and collaborative.
This Director level commercial attorney role will provide legal support and direction to various product groups at Applied, with a focus on the Automation Products Group (factory automation software) and FabVantage (fab consulting services).
Key
Responsibilities:
Engage and provide legal support and direction to executive management regarding automation and technology focused aftermarket business.
Directly negotiate or oversee the negotiation, structuring, and management of contractual documents that establish business relationships with customer and third parties.
Support and navigate a wide range of legal issues including, but not limited to, antitrust, intellectual property (creation, management, enforcement and infringement), licensing, UCC, trade, bankruptcy, employment, application of international law, tax, EH&S, and regulatory complianceProvide proactive and strategic legal advice to executive staff, including attending and participating in all executive staff, operational and product meetings.
Engagement with internal IP and litigation counsel to enable IP (patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret) procurement and enforcement strategies that drive meaningful impact to the business.
Manage the generation of template agreement and legal support process/cycle time improvements.
Actively advise, develop and manage copyright strategies for software and data analytic business.
Lead and contribute to the development of business processes and policies to better enable achievement of business objectives, mitigate risk, reduce inefficiencies and improve effectivenessCollaborate and drive change management programs in a matrix managed organizationProvide training and develop programs to protect IP and accomplish business goalsManage outside counsel and related budgets Basic
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited and recognized law school+5 years of legal experience with a focus in the following areas:
Technology transactions - including sale of products and services, demos and evaluations, collaboration and development, etc.
Software Licensing and other aspects of a software focused businessLeadership and team buildingPatent, copyright (software), trade secrets and trademarksStrong written and verbal communication skills necessary to support a global businessAnalytical skillsAbility to analyze and summarize large amounts of data in relatively short periodsAbility to manage and motivateAbility to travel internationally on a moment's noticeAgreements involving IP provisions, including JDAs and research agreementsAlso beneficial would be experience in:
Good understanding of IP law in Asian countries, including China and KoreaStrategies for protecting parts and subcomponentsCommercial transactionsExcellent negotiation skills including first-hand experience of leading negotiations with parties across multiple jurisdictionsWork experience in law firm and/or in-house legal departments of multinational corporationsExcellent collaboration and communication skills Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
