We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Optics Manufacturing team. The selected candidate will be part of the team which closely works with our R&D and Quality to introduce new products to our advanced optics and interferometer production. You will have opportunities to adapt new technologies, transform start-of-art engineering designs into valuable and manufacturable products, and make key contributions and leadership to develop, document and drive our manufacturing processes with Production team to deliver the top-quality products to meet strict customer quality and cleanliness requirements.

Mechanical Production Engineer

As an experienced Engineer you will be responsible to define, develop, test and release new products for our next generation metrology product family and systems which include assemblies of lasers, precision mechanics, polarizing optics, fiber optics, and electronics. You will be also interfacing with both R&D and Optics Manufacturing teams for NPI process development and continuously supporting our existing production and key customers.


Responsibilities:
Review and work closely with R&D to develop new manufacturing processes for new products, as needed, or landing new products into existing manufacturing processes
Perform and participate in design reviews for new products to ensure design for manufacturing, communicating with R&D and Manufacturing to ensure best overall solution
Participate, drive, and manage proto builds to support R&D, including early stage of design evaluation, assembly test, and tooling review.
Transfer precision opto-mechanical processes and process learnings to Production Manufacturing teams, conduct Manufacturing training, and qualify manufacturing processes.
Participate in Manufacturing tooling design and production line setup with both R&D and Manufacturing using 3D CAD modeling to deliver production assembly tools and setup.
Define and create initial assembly documentation and train manufacturing line on product assembly and product structure
Troubleshoot opto-mechanical product problems and support production on repair activities. Conduct and influence Supplier SCARs, Corrective Actions, and Failure Analysis reports

Job Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge
Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum 10 years of working experience in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or similar industrial field.
In-depth knowledge of mechanics and principles for complex opto-mechanical designs and tools.
Expert in one or more of the following technical areas: lasers, precision opto-mechanics, optical coating, kinematic design, and precision machining.
Contributor to think and act independently to translate ideas and new concepts into tangible results, with a record of delivering successful designs on schedule.
Proficiency in using ME CAD tools for design analysis such PTC CREO or ANSYS preferred
Excellent communication and ability to work well in team environment with people at all levels.
Desired:
Direct design experience with precision opto-mechanical products such as lasers, fiber coupling, optics collimators, interferometers, or optical systems.
Design and manufacturing experience with semiconductor capital equipment and/or precision motion controls.
Depth knowledge of and significant prior experience in optics and laser systems is highly desirable
Direct experiences in manufacturing process development and NPIs is a plus
MS or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or similar technical field.
