Job Description

This position is for an Automation-focused Software Application Engineer (AE) role on the PathWave Acceleration team. This team is responsible for accelerating internal automation solution development activities across all of Keysight business units, engaging with key customers to build and integrate their distributed solutions with PathWave Test Automation & OpenTAP and working with 3rd party partners to scale new automation-based solutions into niche spaces.

We are seeking a software application engineer with experience designing, implementing, deploying and maintaining automation-centric test solutions. As a software application engineer, you will be a critical, top-level contributor to Keysight's cloud platform as it launches both internally and to externally to market. You will work closely with strategic planners, project management, internal stakeholders and key external customers to understand challenges and communicate Keysight's solution to them. You will be a technical leader, providing mentoring, best practices and hands-on guidance to our developers to continually deploy value to all consumers. You will synthesize requirements into actionable architecture and designs, and spearhead implementation. You are comfortable in front of customers, thrive in ambiguous situations and ideally have some technical sales experience. More than anything, you thrive on delivering value and building awesome things (with software)!

You will be expected to:

Steward the awareness, adoption and support of PathWave Test Automation and it's infrastructure internally, externally and with 3rd parties.
Engage the community and broadly evangelize the OpenTAP (www.OpenTAP.io) open source project to new parties.
Train/educate customers, internal stakeholders and 3rd party partners on Keysight PathWave Test Automation capabilities.
Drive communication with diverse stakeholders, understand requirements and translate them for the development and planning teams.
Effectively communicate up and down across cross-functional teams (sales organization, product management and R&D).
Travel to, or virtually engage, internal and external development teams to catapult their projects forward.

Job Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
  • 1-2 years of software development, application engineering or equivalent experience, or internship with relevant experience.
  • Experience taking a software project from an early concept through deployment and support using agile methodologies and CI/CD approaches.
  • Drive / curiosity / self-motivation to solve complex integration challenges and discover new opportunities for success with customers in cutting edge companies ranging from Quantum engineering / Next-gen communications (i.e. 5G, 6G) / Space / Automotive / Consumer and Governmental electronic engineering, simulation and test
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Technical sales experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel (post COVID restrictions), 25% of time.
  • Experience with test automation plaforms in general, especially PathWave Test Automation and/or OpenTAP, is a plus.
  • RESTful and gRPC API design.
  • Scalable/highly available design experience.
